老坑翡翠的颜色为纯正、明亮、浓郁、均匀的翠绿色，透明度非常好，一般具有玻璃光泽，在光的照射下呈半透明到透明状，老坑翡翠的特点为的地细腻、纯净无瑕，鉴别时若光凭肉眼极难见到“翠性”。若透明度较高，即可称为老坑玻璃种，属于翡翠中最高档的品种。
